Outdoor Education . Base Camp Adventures
· Team Building- Participants
work (and play) through a succession of challenges starting with
simple grass games and ending with a high rope challenge.
This one-day program is a great tool for building teamwork in
any group. The
succession is designed so that each individual must rely and trust
more in each other and in themselves, as the activities become more
challenging. This
program will take between six and seven hours including a break for
lunch. Half-day program
will not include high ropes elements.
·
Rock Climbing-
Rock climbing is a fun, safe, and adventurous sport.
Half day climbing classes are done on our base camp rock wall
with some possible real rock bouldering if time allows.
Full day climbing classes will learn the basics of climbing
on our rock wall in the morning and hit the real rock in the
afternoon! We can teach beginning through advanced rock climbing
techniques. Beginners
will learn how to top rope belay, and will be able to climb on a
wall suited to their ability. More
advanced groups will discuss lead climbing techniques, traditional
vs. sport climbing, and proper climbing techniques.
Of course climbing is the best way to learn how to climb so
participants will climb for as long as time allows after safety
orientation and other instruction from our staff.

·
Wilderness Living/survival- Learn
how to build a fire during a rainstorm, find dry wood after a
torrential downpour! Build
a shelter find drinking water and learn where to find food in the
woods! Learn how to
survive and travel in the woods with style!
This class is almost limitless in activities and
possibilities. The more
time you have the more cool stuff we can do!
·
Canoeing- Canoeing
is possibly the oldest known form of transportation and is still
possibly the best way to travel over the water using only manpower.
Paddling a canoe in a straight line is not as easy as you may
think! Most people have
paddled a canoe before but most people could not paddle a canoe down
a river without “pinballing” from bank to bank!
Lean the cross bow draw, prying, and many other strokes that
will help you to really control your canoe!
Learn how to paddle into the wind and unswamp a swamped canoe
in the middle of a large lake! If
time and weather allow we will also play some fun canoe games so
come prepared to get wet!
·
Hiking / Environmental study- Our
base camp is surrounded by thousands of acres of state land!
The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful creation and it is
one of our joys to be able to share it with you.
We can spend the day hiking a trail stopping along the way to
discover exciting things about creation and the Lord who created it,
or we can stay closer to base camp and get our hands dirty digging
into the ponds and woods surrounding the camp.
